Prospectivity analysis

Quantitative evaluation and ranking of mineral prospects by their prospectivity.

These studies involve the critical analysis of exploration results within a framework of understanding of the key controls on mineralisation within the regional geological context and, importantly, factor in basic mining costs and assumptions.

Target Generation

Development of exploration targets on a district- or regional-scale based on salient geological observations and supported by interpretations of geophysical and geochemical data.

In new terranes, appropriate conceptual geological models for the setting may assist area selection.

Targeting ore shoots

Identification and characterisation of controls on mineralisation, particularly higher grade ore shoots.

These assignments involve analysis of drill core and outcrop, if available, coupled with the interrogation and modelling of drillhole data.

Production Assistance

Geotechnical & groundwater

Construction of 3D structural models of faults and fractures that contribute to the geotechnical and hydrogeological behaviour of a rockmass.

These studies involve mapping and characterisation of mine workings and drillholes to produce a 3D model of the principal structures. Integration of rockmass and groundwater data within this framework provides an appropriate framework for mine design and safety studies.

Grade control

Identification of the detailed geometry of mineralisation on the scale of mining blocks and stopes for short- to medium-term planning.

Typically these studies involve characterising structures in mines and exploration data and extrapolating findings to help model closely-spaced grade control assay data.

 

Near-mine and brownfield exploration

Structural targeting of shoots and offset mineralisation relies upon the development of well-constrained structural geological models.

Typically these assignments may include open pit or underground mapping and drill core analysis, together with 3D geological modelling.
